Fill out our simple online form — it takes less than 5 minutes. You'll need your name and address. A credit check is required as part of the application.

Step 2: We Handle the Rest

Get Energy reports the switch to your current retailer on your behalf. You don't need to call anyone or fill out additional paperwork. We coordinate everything with the distribution utility.

Step 3: Same Power, Better Rate

Your electricity and natural gas continue flowing without interruption. The same wires, the same pipes — just a better price. Your first Get Energy bill arrives within one billing cycle.

Common Questions About Switching

Will my power or gas be interrupted?
No. Switching retailers has zero impact on your service. Your electricity is delivered by your local distribution company (EPCOR, ENMAX, FortisAlberta, or ATCO Electric) and your gas by ATCO Gas or Apex Utilities. They don't change when you switch retailers.

Do I need to cancel with my current provider?
We report the switch on your behalf. However, you should check the terms and conditions of your current agreement to understand any cancellation policies they may have.

How long does the switch take?
Typically 10 days. If earlier service is required, we can do our best to rush it for you. You'll continue on your current retailer's plan until the switch is complete.

What if I'm on the regulated rate?
If you're currently on the Regulated Rate Option (RRO) or Rate of Last Resort, you can switch to Get Energy with no penalties. The RRO has no contract or cancellation fees.
